ARTOTEKA Rendezvous with ECOFEMINISM

This year Contemporary Art Gallery in Opole is working under the theme „environment”. We deliberate this topic in relation to nature and ecology as well as to the surrounding/milieu that affects our behavior and constitutes identity. Since ecofeminism is considered to be the leading force in environmental studies, we would like to invite you to participate in the close reading sessions of texts by influential feminist writers, scholars and researchers related to ecofeminism.

We propose the variation of close reading method, developed by Grupa Samoczytająca and disseminated by Sense of Movement Foundation. The premise of this practice is to create space, in which one can wander unhampered, connote, exchange observations on the text and search for meanings using the resources of the particular group set up.

The forthcoming meeting will be led by Gaja Karolczak and Bartosz Mroczkowski from Sense of Movement Foundation (Fundacja Sens Ruchu).

Our excellent guest come to Opole with the question:

“How to grow different kinds of worlds?”

We will search for possible answers in the text of two Australian researchers Jennifer Mae Hamilton and Astrida Neimanis Composting Feminisms and Environmental Humanities and another: ‘Wannabe Toxic-Free?’ From precautionary consumption to corporeal citizenship by Dayna Nadine Scott, Jennie Haw & Robyn Lee.

Everyone interested in ecofeminism is very welcome :).

*Texts will be provided on the spot, but feel free to bring your own reading devise.
