The 2023 Spring Salon

The 2023 Spring Salon – the art review exhibition of Opole’s artistic community – is a wonderful opportunity to see the best works of art created in the region.

Opole has been hosting art salons for more than 60 years. The first collective exhibitions featuring artists from Opole, dedicated to reviewing their latest artworks, were held as early as 1955, when a branch of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers (ZPAP) was opened in the city. Several years later, the term SALON was used to refer to these exhibitions for the first time.

Since 1921, the Salon has been open to everyone involved in the visual arts. The only condition that must be met is the participants’ connection with Opole or the region and the submission of artworks not older than one year, as the exhibition organisers aim to showcase the current potential of the city and the surrounding area. The art objects presented during the Salon are selected by an independent jury.

The Spring Salon is also a competition – the jury selects the winners of the Award of the Mayor of Opole, the Award of the Marshal of the Opole Voivodeship and, for ZPAP members, the Award of the Opole Branch of ZPAP. Moreover, art curators representing the Contemporary Art Gallery in Opole award their own prize in the form of an exhibition held in the gallery the following year, while visitors to the exhibition can choose their favourite artist through a public vote. The award winners will be announced during the exhibition’s vernissage (except for the Public Vote Award winner, as visitor voting will be open until the end of the exhibition).
